INVISIBLE BRACES IN FRESH BREATH DENTAL CLINIC FOR KIDS & TEENS

September 26th,2023

Starting little shifts today goes a long way

As a child grows, their smile grows with them. And even with baby teeth, it may be time for children aged 6 to 10 to start orthodontic treatment. This is known as Phase 1 treatment.

At this stage, doctors can see issues that may need early treatment to address a developing problem.

  • Phase 1 treatment for growing children with a mix of baby and permanent teeth.*
  • Phase 2 treatment for pre-teens and teens when most or all permanent teeth have erupted.

* Retainers are recommended in between phases while waiting for the permanent teeth to grow in and after Phase 2 is completed to help retain the corrections made

Advantages of Phase 1 treatment

The goal of Phase 1 treatment is to develop young jaws and/or arches to make room for existing teeth and for incoming permanent teeth

  • Can prevent pre-existing bite issues from getting worse
  • Can fix existing teeth-straightening conditions
  • Can improve the appearance of a growing child’s smile
  • Can correct oral habits such as thumb sucking or tongue thrusting
  • Can make Phase 2 treatment shorter and easier

MY STORY

Hello Everyone,

I am Dr.Rajesh Naik  born in a small village Ankola  raised in a middle class family with both my amazing parents being in service .Really grateful for all the sacrifices they made in upbringing all the three sons. They really made sure that were independent.Things were quite tough during those times. But they gave us the best of childhood they could .

Completed my schooling and graduation from Hubli & Dharwad . After graduation (1994-1999) pursued Masters (2000-2003) from Davangere. I was very fortunate to be trained from the premier dental institutes in INDIA .

I always had a DREAM of settling down in Chandigarh. The dream came true and i took up my first teaching job in Mulana, Ambala in the year 2003 immediately after my Masters.Cleared the Masters bagging the FIRST Rank to University and was also awarded as the “Best outgoing PG student” from department.

Based in Chandigarh I started working in evening at my friends clinic as a General practitioner and as a gum specialist (Periodontist). Well i really enjoyed my life as a bachelor working really hard to build a carrier from scratch .

It took a couple of years to establish my reputation in the Chandigarh and had all plans to set up my own private dental clinic in Chandigarh. The dream didn’t last for too long as i had to shift to Bangalore after marriage in the year 2006 due to personal reasons.

My passion towards teaching kept me continue with my teaching job where i was involved in teaching and training Undergraduates and Postgraduate students. It was in the year 2016 i decided to quit my job as Professor and go full time into clinical dental practice.

From the year 2006-2016 ,apart from teaching and practicing in the evening in my own clinic, i used to consult lot of hospitals (Fortis, Apollo) and many reputed private dental clinics as Periodontist & Implantologist.

I set up my dream Dental office FRESH BREATH DENTAL CLINIC in the year 2010 and it is very special to me .I have my dental clinic in the same residential premises where i reside too. I bought this property in 2009 and was fortunate to find this amazing property. It was a real struggle to actually buy and to even think of affording such a place in Kalyan Nagar. But always followed my instincts and believed in “MY DREAMS”.

So i was practicing part time in  my clinic during weekdays .So it was in the year 2016 i quit my job and my visitations to other clinics and hospitals and decided to dedicate Full-time in my practice ,which definitely raised eyebrows for a few.

To be self employed was purely my decision and well it was quite a brave one  i feel now but  I thank God for that i stuck to  my decision and it worked.

Hurrayyyy!!!! 🙂

I have a great family. I am blessed with a beautiful daughter Saanvi who is 8 years old now  wife Dr.Roopa who is an ENT surgeon. My parents stay in Hubli and in-laws in Kundapur and they all are hale and hearty.Really thankful and grateful to GOD.

5 MYTHS ABOUT ROOT CANAL TREATMENT!! DEBUNKED

June 25th,2020

5 MYTHS ABOUT RCT..

The thought of root canal may make you fearful or uneasy if you aren’t familiar with the procedure. There are common misconceptions that endodontic treatments such as root canals, cause pain and/or illness and should be avoided at all costs. The exact opposite is true. The pain, inconvenience and cost of avoiding endodontic (RCT) treatment in favor of tooth extraction or a wait-and-see approach can be easily avoided. The longer you postpone treatment the more you risk the chance to save your tooth.

Put your mind at ease as we reveal five most common myths about root canals:

MYTH 1. ROOT CANAL TREATMENT IS PAINFUL
FACT: Decades ago that may have been the case, but with modern technology and anesthetics you won’t experience any more pain than if you went to have a cavity filled. The pain from a severe toothache, often caused by damaged tissues in the tooth, can be easily remedied when an endodontist removes the damaged tissue through root canal treatment. In addition, endodontists are experts in painful management, and most cases can be treated quickly and comfortably.

MYTH 2: RCT REQUIRES  A LOT OF APPOINTMENTS/VISITS
FACT: With today’s cutting edge technology, most root canals can be performed in one or two clinic visits.

MYTH 3 : ITS BETTER TO PULL THE TOOTH OFF THAN GET A RCT
FACT: Saving your natural teeth, if possible, is always the best option. Nothing artificial can replace the look or function of a natural tooth so it’s important to always consider root canal treatment as an option. Endodontic treatment has a high success rate and many root canal-treated teeth last a lifetime. Replacing an extracted tooth with a bridge or implant requires more time in treatment and may result in further procedures to neighboring teeth and supporting tissue.

MYTH 4 :ROOT CANAL TREATMENT CAUSES ILLNESS
FACT: Information you may find on the Internet or elsewhere, claiming that if you receive a root canal treatment you’re more likely to become ill or contract a disease in the future simply isn’t true. This false claim was based on long-debunked and poorly designed research conducted nearly a century ago, long before modern medicine understood the causes of many diseases. There is no valid, scientific evidence linking root canal treatment to disease elsewhere in the body.

MYTH 5: AFTER HAVING A ROOT CANAL, MY TOOTH IS COMPLETELY RESTORED
FACT: After having a root canal, it is extremely important to make a follow-up appointment with your dentist to have the tooth permanently restored. After the pulp of the tooth has been removed, the tooth can become very dry and brittle. Having a permanent restoration like getting a crown/cap fixed will help protect your tooth from fracturing.

WISDOM TOOTH- MYTH VS REALITY

September 14th,2018

From the DOCTOR'S DESK:
From childhood ,I have been interested in knowing about the Wisdom tooth (third molar), surprised by the vast difference of opinion each science teacher had about it, wondering at what it really was for?? Some said it was useless and needed to be removed while others stood for the positive side of it,spotting it helped in chewing and was needed for a complete mouth.
But once I started my professional studies in Dental School i used all the resources available to rule out all the false thoughts i had about teeth especially the third molar.
The third molar is a tooth with diverse shape, there is a little chance of seeing two identical wisdom teeth in two individuals.Sometimes partly erupted wisdom tooth and occasionally fully impacted wisdom tooth are in a rise in the current generation which is believed due to change in dietary habits.

There are many myths about wisdom teeth usually asked by patients at the FRESH BREATH dental clinic of Dr.Rajesh Naik MDS, your Family Dentist ;

Most commonly asked questions or perceived myths about wisdom teeth are the following:

Myth 1
– If wisdom teeth are not removed, they will become impacted or cause crowding.
This is why many people require orthodontic treatment (braces). Not true – while wisdom teeth can be a factor in crowding, some people have no issues with these teeth. For them, they grow into proper position and are healthy teeth.

Myth 2
– Through dental x-rays and routine check-ups, dentists can predict the timing and way in which wisdom teeth become visible (erupt)
Not true – unfortunately, it is not possible to predict the way wisdom teeth will erupt.

Myth 3
– Everyone has wisdom teeth.
Surprisingly not everyone actually has wisdom teeth. In fact, some people have them beneath the gums that never erupt. Some people have one or two and some people don’t have any at all. All of these scenarios are perfectly acceptable unless you have symptoms indicating something is wrong.

Myth 4
-Everyone needs their wisdom teeth removed.
Well this is probably the greatest myth of all the wisdom teeth will be advised for removal only in case of partial eruption and is causing discomfort life inflammation in gums around tooth (pericoronitis) or difficulty in chewing or opening mouth or decayed tooth causing pain.

Myth 5
– wisdom tooth removal is painful
You shouldn’t feel any pain as your wisdom teeth are removed because the area will be numb. The surgical removal is done by an Oral Surgeon who carefully examines patient and Xray and then plans the removal under Local Anesthesia. The procedure usually takes 25-40mins.Patient is generally comfortable because of premeditation and will only perceive a little bit of pressure with absolutely no pain during procedure.
